MP1584EN Mini DC-DC Buck Converter — 3A, Ultra-Compact
Compact, high-efficiency step-down module ideal for modern electronics, drones, automotive and DIY projects.
Key Features & Benefits
- Ultra-Compact: Coin-sized 22 × 17 × 4 mm board — ideal where space is limited.
- 3A Reliable Output: Up to 3A continuous (use proper cooling for sustained currents).
- High Efficiency: Up to ~92% conversion efficiency and fast 1.5MHz switching.
- Wide Input & Adjustable Output: Input 4.5–28V, Output adjustable 0.8–20V.
- Quick Integration: Standard screw terminals and a user adjustment potentiometer.
- Modern Replacement: Smaller, faster and more responsive than legacy LM2596 modules.
Description
The MP1584EN mini buck converter is the modern successor to older step-down modules. It offers the same dependable 3A capability in a tiny, high-frequency package that runs cooler and reacts faster to load changes. This makes it perfect for powering microcontrollers, sensors, motor controllers, LED strips, and other battery-powered or 12V/24V projects where PCB space is at a premium.
How to Use
- Connect Input: Apply 4.5–28V DC to IN+ and IN- (observe polarity).
- Set Output: Measure the output with a multimeter and adjust the potentiometer to your desired voltage (0.8–20V).
- Connect Load: Attach your device to OUT+ and OUT-.

Important Safety Notes
- No reverse polarity protection: Reversing input polarity may permanently damage the module.
- Minimum load: Do not run the module with no load — maintain at least ~10% of rated load to avoid output instability.
- Cooling required at high current: For sustained currents near 3A, provide ventilation or attach a heatsink.
Tip: This module is perfect for replacing bulky regulators in projects — use it to power Arduinos, ESP32/ESP8266 boards, LED drivers, small motors, and more.
